Penta
Quaron is associated with Penta Chemikalien, a
collective of many strong and high-quality European distributors.
This collaboration is realised through the sharing of knowledge, flexibility,
strength, and purchasing benefits that arise from cooperative offerings to customers and producers.
Penta represents a
number of mid-sized storage-holding chemical distributors (Pentists), and was
founded in 1966 in Germany with five (in
Greek: Penta)
members. The goal
of the development was to ensure independence and to increase
competitive capacity through the cooperative purchasing of chemicals.
Today,
Penta has 11 European shareholders with a wide range of services in the
areas of
purchasing, market and product information, IT, environment, legal,
quality,
safety and new product development.
Chemical
distributors are an extension of the chemical industry itself. The
defined
goals of the collective distributors are carried out in the market
through
Penta and the Pentists. The power of Penta lies in the efficient
distribution of chemical products, through the 'Single Source' network
of the Pentists.
VHCP
In
the Netherlands, Quaron is a member of the Association of Chemical Product
Handlers (Verbond van Handelaren in
Chemische Producten [VHCP)]). For almost 60 years, the association has
promoted the collective interests of companies that are active in the handling
of chemical products. They strive to meet their goals by close collaboration
for the advancement of association members as well as members of the chemical
industry. In addition, the VHCP advises members about government regulations
that may have consequences for the handling of certain chemical products.
In an international context, the VHCP is associated with the FECC (Fédération Européenne du Commerce Chimique), which is further associated with the ICCTA (International Council of Chemical Trade Associations). In the Netherlands, the VHCP works in cooperation with the VNCI (Vereniging van de Nederlandse Chemische Industrie).
Responsible
Care®
One
of the most important projects supported by Quaron is Responsible Care®. This voluntary programme, created for and by the
chemical industry - an initiative of the ICCTA - helps associated
companies to operate with a focus on safety, community mindedness and
concern for
future generations. Through the sharing of information, the use of
rigorous
checklists, the use of performance indicators and verification
procedures, Responsible Care®
shows participating companies how their performance can be improved in
the
areas of health, safety, and environmental protection. In addition,
Responsible Care®
demands that participants foster open, transparent communication with
all involved parties (neighbouring communities, environmental lobby
groups, governments,
media and the general public).
